The OTO Melara 76/62 Super Rapid is a lightweight, rapid-fire, dual-purpose gun capable of engaging airborne and surface targets. Compared to the 76/62 Compact gun also from OTO Melara, the new 76/62 SR features stealth design, full digital control, outstanding performance against high-speed missiles and engagement of shore-based targets capability. The unmanned, stabilized naval mount is equipped with a 76mm 62-caliber gun and can be installed on a wide range of ships ranging from corvettes to destroyers. It can fire any existing 76/62 ammunition, including 3AP programmable and DART guided ammunitions, in single shot mode or multiple shots with a maximum rate of fire of 120 rounds per minute. The multiple sustained shots mode is provided to engage effectively multiple maneuverable targets. The 76/62 SR gun is feed by a revolving magazine which can be reloaded even during firing operations.
